VOLUNTEERING

In addition to annual projects and fundraising, there are many ongoing volunteer opportunities. Even if you do not live locally, there are still several ways that you can help. A few to consider are listed below.

HOMECOMING:

The planning of Homecoming is a year long process. The Program Committee is working on Homecoming 2012.  In addition to mailing a brochure describing the three day event and posting updates on the website, we need to make phone calls and write letters to alumni. We encourage everyone to contact members of their class.

CEMETERY:

Every week during the warmer months, we need assistance with mowing. Click here to see photos of the cemetery.

RESEARCH:

Members of the School and Alumni Association are working diligently to preserve the School's history. One project we have undertaken is researching about the veterans affiliated with the school so that we can honor them. If you have a particular area of interest, please contact us.

To learn more about the Miller School, read Robert F. Haggard's The Miller School of Albemarle: A History. Find out more about the life of Samuel Miller, the will case of 1869-1874, and the changes on "The Hill".
